The Power House
This building was constructed in the late nineteenth century and is sited immediately in front of the Laboratory Building. It was originally the Power House for the Morfa Copperworks, and contained triple-expansion steam engines, but during the 1930s it was adapted to become a canteen. Made from stone, it was a handsome building, which has the remains of an imposing clock tower that was louvered with four clock faces and a weathervane. Unfortunately, the building suffered fire damage in the 1970s and again in the 1980s when most of the slate roof was lost.
